I am a high-energy astrophysicist and assistant professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at University of Iowa. My research areas are in observational astrophysics and technology development. I study:

  1. accreting compact objects, especially systems hosting an accreting white dwarf;
  2. machine learning algorithms to enable astrophysical analysis and discovery;
  3. soft-gamma-ray focusing optics to explore point sources of Galactic positron generation. I am a NASA Nancy Grace Roman Technology Fellow, awarded for my research in gamma-ray focusing optics.

Outside of astronomy, my interests include dinosaurs, Star Trek, nautical and aerospace history, and Tolkien’s Middle Earth. My hobbies include reading, snuggling my cats, listening to podcasts, knitting, cycling, canoeing, and night walking.

Email is my preferred mode of communication. You can email me using the icon below.
